Congratulations Sea Otters!
2017 Dual Meet and Cabana League Champions
Once again, the Santa Teresa Sea Otters demonstrated their grace and power in the water by winning both the Dual Meet and Cabana League Championships, and going undefeated for the 4th year in a row. The Sea Otters did not skip a beat under the watchful eye of first year head coach Les Greenwood.
At the Sea Otter Awards Night, there was much to celebrate. Each swimmer received a trophy and many swimmers were adorned with ribbons and medals from CHAMPS. Awards in each age group were given for Most Improved, 2nd High Point and High Point for the dual meet season. As a whole, the team earned 1,171 Personal Best times over the season. 288 personal best times were recorded at the Championship meet with 42 swimmers receiving a gold medal (3 PB’s), 59 receiving silver (2 PB’s) and 44 receiving bronze (1 PB).
Sea Otter swimmers Mia White and Jakob Samson were the team MVP’s having earned the most points for Girls and Boys over the dual meet season, and Hannah Samson and Ethan Fusilero received the Coaches Award for being the Girl and Boy who best exemplified the Sea Otter Spirit! Mia White also became the first Sea Otter swimmer to ever earn every possible point in a season, having never lost a race, be it individual or relay...quite an amazing feat for this 10 year old!! Congratulations to Allie Ruzsa, Maria Higginbotham, Ethan Fusilero, Joey Wycoff, Mia White, Paulina Thurmann, Bryant Luu and Katie Jacopi, for setting Sea Otter or league records at the Championship meet.
The Sea Otters said good-bye to senior swimmers Paulina Thurmann, Enrique Mungia and Angeline Truong, with Thurmann and Truong earning the coveted Lifetime Achievement clocks for swimming 7 or more years on the team.
The Sea Otters want to thank all the parents, coaches, community members and the Rancho Board for their continued support of our neighborhood swim team!
The future of the Sea Otters continues to look bright!
